After searching I cannot find an exact answer as to what size the oil filter cap is and what specific sized wrench is necessary.

For all of those interested, the part number is: 83300493936

If you look for BMW oil filter wrench you will never find it, because it is an oil filter cover "tool". That is how it is labeled at most places.

It also runs from 30.00 to 40.00 US.

I do not exactly the size but every time that I change my oil I do my remove my oil cap with the adjustable wrench sold in Sears stores that cost about 15 us or less. The oil cap located on the top of the engine is not very tight so this wrench lossen the cap easily.

I ended up getting a strap type wrench at Autozone for about $12. That should be just fine I think. Although my first change is still going to cost me with the ramps, oil, wrench, drainage pan, etc. I haven't changed oil in years, but I am definitely keeping this car for a long time. First one will be at 5,000 miles.
