Here is a step by step guide with pictures of how I replaced the aircon blower motor (the one deep in the middle of the dashboard) in my car.

The pictures are heavily compressed but I think they tell the story.

The fan started making an intermittent screech - not too loud - but it got on your nerves after a while. It would go quiet when cornering.

I recently used this guide to change the blower motor on my 2006 E61. This guide was a huge help and the repair was a success. Thanks!

It was working fine, just screeching from time to time. Some days it was OK, some days it started screeching immediately. Usually I'd get about half a mile before it started making a noise. It was driving me mad!

The bearings were all rusty when I took it out.

hello gentleman
my blower motor seems to stop working completely . which is fairly strange as it was working quietly and faullessly so far .
is there anything (diagnostic ) that can check if it really is blower motor and not fuse or something else .
any answers will apreciate .

The instructions were great, the whole job took me just under 2.5 hours to complete
The only thing I found different was the centre vent sensor, which I don't have on my 2005 520d
My symptoms were slightly different when I first started the car there was no fan at all, then during the journey the fan would eventally come on
(slightly less powerful than normal) although everthing worked. It was as though the motor was very weak and was having problems getting started

Thank you for your help

Regards
