Thanks for the detailed install method

I have wired everything but not had it coded yet but the drivers side up and down moves the mirror left to right and vice versa. The passenger side only moves down and outward only. Do you think the coding will resolve this or do you think i have a faulty set of mirrors or maybe even just passenger one.

I just bought them for a small fortune and trying to find out if i need to return them.

The mirrors were from a 535d m sport 2006 and i have a 520d m sport sept 2007

Any advice is much appreciated

Thanks

Please bear in mind this DIY assumes you have an E60 made between sept/2005 and march/2008.

also got the kerb function working, only thing i cant get working is the puddle light i have added SA536 and coded the KGM.

I will post some pictures later of stages and tips I thought might add to Bloods DIY

Also got to say that Bruce's idea of using the existing passenger wires worked a treat and helps save time on a already big job.

Now just need to get my glovebox In and tidy up and it's finshed

If it ever stops raining

Code them first. 2006 and 2007 are compatible without doubt.

I got that side sorted by moving ground wire to point on door

I have coded them now using instructions from youtube video but they wont fold.

I am wondering if i have been sold non auto folding mirrors, they do have three wires brown green and red as far as i know that is auto fold wiring.

I was under the impression as they use a motor i couldnt just manually fold in the mirrors but i can just like my old ones

Three wires does not necessarily mean folding mirrors. I had also three wire mirror which were memory mirrors without folding, later I upgraded to folding mirrors with also three wires. BTW the ones with motor can also be folded with hand, but, you should not do that as it might cause unnecessary damage to the folding gears and pinions inside.

05/09 and upwards:

These have three wires:

- Autofold (and anti glaze)
- Light package

Mirrors without these functions have four wires.

Have you tried to fold them both by pressing the button on window switch cluster and by pressing the keyfob?

Not quite sure about it based on my experience.
So far I've had three different sets of mirrors on my 2006., and they all had three wires.
1. Non-folding, no light package
2. Folding, dimming, no light package
3. M5 (folding, dimming, light package)

My OEM mirrors came without lights and folding, and those have four wires. Do you have memory seats? I'm not quite sure what cars with memory have in this case.
