Hello everyone! I've had my Bmw e60 for a year now and I've always wanted to upgrade to the sport steeringwheel as it looks so much better than the standard "Diamond".
I've read this topic from top to bottom a couple times now, but there is one thing I'm still not sure about.

For starters, my car is a pre LCI. And I've bought one wheel that is pre.. And one that is LCI just for the airbag and the backplate which from what I understand goes together.
Was thinking of just swapping the airbag into the pre. one, but I didn't get the airbag wiring with the airbag itself.. Is that needed or can I use the wiring from the wheel that is in fact still in the car?

If you look at the images below, is the wire which has been cut on the airbag supposed to go to that point on the backplate in the steering wheel, or is it supposed to go into the connector among the airbag wires? If so what is the point of the connector on the backplate?

Thanks, but it's not helping me right now though. :-/
I'm wondering if it's possible to use the airbag wiring from my original 2003 steering wheel, locate which wires are positive and negative for the horn and then split them into two connectors instead of one.
Wouldn't positive of these two be rightfully connected to that marked point on the airbag then and negative to the backplate? Other way around it would honk all the time? :-)

Just completed this mod. My car is an 11/11/04 build date 525i, the steering wheel is from a 2008 528i. The steering wheel was sourced from a junkyard, I paid $15 for the wheel and $50 for the airbag.

This is what I want to do but just too lazy to do. My current steering wheel is peeling and I want to replace it or wrap it. Both take about the same amount of time to do.
