Default Sylvania BMW - I walked away

I decided to buy a brand new BMW 318d for work. The plan was to give my 530d to my wife to become the family car. So I went down to my local dealer, where I had an 8 year relationship and had purchased two cars, to part with my $50k. It was end of financial year.

The sales girl spent the best part of 20 minutes trying to get me to trade my E60 530d on a new F10. I had no intention. In the end, I told her that if she mentioned the 5 series again I would leave. Needless to say, I walked out 5 minutes later, without even being offered a test drive in a 3 series. Business must be good to let a customer walk out like that.

We now have a new Mercedes C200 CDi, but I'm still in the BMW because I prefer it over the Merc.

Power to you brother, some people think there on top of the business world and think they can sway your choices. Send a letter or better yet tell someone you know from there. Wouldn't want that to happen for another bimmer enthusiast

I did the same thing 7 years ago. And to think that she must have read all these self empowering women sales books

I am sure she won't be working as a salesperson for long. That's like the number 1 lesson in sales, totally a rookie mistake.

Actually, she's still there. My office building has several office suites per floor. I mentioned this story to the director of another company on my floor and he was able to name the girl before I finished the story. He had an equally bad experience and went and bought a Lexus. He regrets the purchase.

My wife is happy with the C200 CDi, but I am not. It's just little things that I don't like and if I'd owned a Merc first, I'd probably be complaining about the BM.

C'mon! You had no other dealers you could have gone to?

It was end of financial year and we had to purchase that day. The next closest dealer was owned by the same family.

BTW, end of financial year sales aren't all they're cracked up to be.
