I dropped off my E93 335 on 6/7/11 for hpfp recall and on the way to the dealership, hit a pothole and ruined 2 runflats. Originally they said the car would take 2 days, but the tires would need to be ordered, so it would be 4 working days. The dealer had gotten me a rental loaner at their expense and we were going on vacation on the Friday before the car was ready, so after much back and forth, we agreed that they would drop the car by my house and pick up the loaner on the Monday that the car was to be done.

On vacation, we didn't hear anything from the dealer about any delays despite them having my cell number and my wife's cell phone number. We arrived back in town on 6/19/11 and the rental loaner was still sitting in my driveway.

This morning, I call the SA and leave a message for them to call me and let me know why the car is not back. He calls back and talks to my nurse and tells her that the car is fine and will be swapped by noon.

The car arrives a bit before 4 pm but the driver comes back to leave the paperwork. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't look the car over prior to the driver leaving. I come home 15 minutes after the driver has left to find the car with hail damage on the trunk, roof and hood. I immediately call the SA but again get voice mail, so I call back and ask for the service manager, who is out of town. No call back from the SA, so I called BMW of North America to file a complaint as the car was brought back unwashed, I assume as an attempt to hide the hail damage. The BMW rep calls and can't get through to the SA or the service manager, but she leaves a message for him to call. He calls at 7 pm, and says they had a hail storm this morning and he didn't realize that the car was damaged. He says their insurance will pay for the repair, but honestly, if it needs more than paintless dent removal, I don't want it back. I don't even know how well PDR holds up over time?? (It was bought in 12/09 as a cpo with 1900 miles and now has 4800 miles). I find it very odd that the dealer didn't wash the car and didn't tell me about the damage.

Is there anything else I should say or do?? They want me to bring it back in later to get an estimate and then again bring it back for PDR.

Will my car have a bad carfax after this? Should there be a diminished value claim filed?

I am not happy right now.

If PDR can take it out, you probably don't have to worry much about the integrity. How bad is it? Post pics?

And I really doubt this will be reported to Carfax, unless it's major rape by the hail storm.

PDR repeairs are legit - but a specialist will charge per each dent that has to be removed. It may be cheaper for the insurance company to just put on new body parts and repaint.

Several years ago I had a Trailblazer that got pelted with hail pretty bad right after I bought it ((didn't even make my first payment on it). Insurance covered all the damage and about a month later I got it back looking good as new.
