Thumbs up

I am in the market for a TCU and I see allot of them on ebay, wanted to know do all TCU that supports Bluetooth have a BT sticker on there to indicate it supports it? Is there a way for me to tell which model actually supports BT i.e 8411 6946428 01

Some sellers are stating it has BT but the picture doesn't have the BT indication.

Also, are TCU's interchangeable? i.e can a E90 fit an E60...etc?

Thanks any feedback would be appreciated.
04 530i.

Thanks..I will take a look. So I guess the sticker with the BT doesn't really mean it supports BT or just that its a hit or miss? No real way to tell?

Don't rely on a sticker. Look at the TCU build date. Anything listed as prior to March 2004 (listed on the sticker in DAY.MONTH.YEAR format, ie "USA 01.03.2004") simply won't work correctly. The Bluetooth hardware existed in the early build TCUs - hence the stickers and such. However, the hardware driving the system couldn't handle telematics and BT simultaneously. The early TCU bluetooth modules were hardware-disabled to ensure proper telematics remained operational. Unfortunately, that meant retrofits for those with TCUs earlier than March 2004.

Should be fine with proper coding! I'm using an 07 TCU, which has Concierge, Customer Service, and Service Notification goodies available.

Do you have navigation? If so, the CCC and TCU have coding options, along with adding the option to your VO. If not, MASK controls some options, but voice control is limited to phonebook entries.

(Now I'm no expert so others feel free to chime in/correct me if I'm wrong!)

No navigation here. And sorry what is Mask, another unit? And I don't mind phone book entries only, All i want is a hands free phone system.

Thanks

I just got my car back from the dealership and they gave me a really sketchy story about why they can't get my bluetooth to work.

I have an 04 545i with an 11/2003 build date. It has the right TCU and everything else, but they told me they couldn't reprogram the main computer to make it work because of it's build date.

Based on what you guys are saying that story doesn't hold water. Any thoughts on this??

What should I do next and who can I follow up on this with?????

Thx
