Default 2012 F10 and Galaxy S2

Recently acquired this motor. My previous E60 had no problems pairing with the S2. This vehicle will pair but will not hold the pairing and it's necessary to re-pair frequently. The phone book will not load at all. I have restricted phonebook entries to phone numbers and these are saved to SIM.

BMW's connectivity test says it will be OK but says there is a software update available. Clicking on download merely takes me to an accessories page.

I have found the 'latest' TX and MX software files but software update on the iDrive says it cannot find the USB stick.

grateful for any advice.

Default Samsung Galaxy S2 & Bluetooth Connection

Seems a bit strange replying to my own request for help. However I seem to have found a solution to the problem. It seems that Android's bluetooth and the rSAP system used by automotive manufacturers are not always compatible. BMW don't seem to realise this or care.

To obtain a connection it is important that contact details on the phone are saved to phone and that 'contacts display' display is set to phone only.

Then it is necessary to turn on Bluetooth on the phone and then go to Settings>Applications Manager> Running and scroll down for Bluetooth. Tap Bluetooth and a number of sections showing Bluetooth activities appear. Scroll down to Bluetooth Pbapservice and tap Stop.

This will allow the car's Bluetooth system to run the phone and allow contacts transfer and the other functions.

Unfortunately each time Bluetooth on the phone is turned off the Pbapservice will restore itself when Bluetooth is next used. I'm trying to find a function automator to detect the car's bluetooth and auto stop Pbapservices. Hopefully more to follow.
