I'm a pre-LCI owner and I think this shifter is a really nice touch especially since my existing shifter is starting to show wear. Like NC916, the "M" insignia is a bit of a deal-breaker for me too as my car is not an M series by any means. If there was sufficient interest, is there any chance of removing the "M" logo? If not, would it be possible for an end-user to do this ourselves if we were able to take the assembly apart and carefully "mask" the area?
want this answered
if not then ima gonna have to tear apart a shifter

you can purchase a shifter like that without the M logo but they are super expensive. tearing appart the shifter will just destroy it personally i'd just leave the M logo it's not very noticable in the first place

schulrog,
I noticed a link to your website based on another thread in the forums. Are you now carrying the BMW Illuminated DCT Shifter Retrofit Kit for our E60s?
http://www.motivemods.com/BMW-SMG-Sh.../bmw-sh-r2.htm
Given that this one has no "M" Logo and it is a very close match to OEM, it looks like a mod I'll be very interested in doing. I'm sure others will be interested as well. Let us know regarding product availability and possible group pricing. (I did a side-by-side image for reference).
Thanks in advance.

correct. the shifter is available..
at this moment in time i am actually on working on something more... I have a baseplate in hand (see attached pic) that fits E60s although i think it doesn't fit all.
According to my research it fits the E60: 528i,528xi,535i,535xi,550i E61:535xi touring with sport automatic transmission
even if the vehicle doesn't have the sport option i can make the sport button, that would go in the empty slot, illuminate when the lights are turned on but it won't be functional.
so the shifter is available with the new baseplate for perfect OEM fitment for vehicles that allow for it to be fitted or the shifter can be sown to the original leather boot while using the previous OEM baseplate.
who's interested in something like that?

Thanks for the prompt feedback. I also like the baseplate look. Can you verify if it will fit a 2007 525i? My E60 does not have the sport button however if you fabricated one for the cavity I could put it to good use with some re-wiring for activation of my Sprintbooster V2. Alternatively if the cavity accommodated the OEM BMW button, getting one from the dealership may not be that difficult.
Let us know pricing and availability. You can count me in for this setup.
