BMW M1 Rendering Needs to Happen

BMW-M1-Design-Study-7

The BMW M1 is one of the most iconic BMWs ever made. It remains the company’s sole supercar, excluding the more environmentally friendly i8. And with Mercedes, Audi, and other manufacturers building new supercars that are reminiscent of previous models, it got one designer thinking about a new M1.

Designed by Giom Mouton, a South African artist, the rendering shows off what could be the next great BMW supercar. The new M1, according to Mouton, could use the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine from the M3 and M4, but could do so while creating well over 600 horsepower.

The rendering also appears to make use of the BMW i8’s chassis, which would make financial sense for BMW, since much of the R&D is already complete. Other than that, details on the rendering are scarce, and we’d like to stress, that the designs are only a rendering and not endorsed by BMW.

Hopefully though, BMW sees these and makes it actually happen. Because in a world where the Ford GT is being re-imagined once again, why can’t we do the same for the BMW M1?
