Even if you don’t really care about drifting, this is still a pretty cool goal to shoot for. The previous longest sustained drift was actually set in Feburary by a Red Bull racing driver, Adbho Feghali, in a Camaro SS. He managed to keep the tires spinning for a whopping 36,679 ft.That’s just under seven miles spent sliding sideways.
BMW aims to crush this record with the almighty F10 M5. I speculate this’ll end up being some kind of promotion for the BMW performance driving school, but hey, if they can show off their driving chops by obliterating a world record, more power too them. We’ll know whether or not their up for the task come May 11th.
