Battle of the V8s: M5 vs M3

A few days ago, we gave you the rev battle to end all rev battles. The video included one of every generation of the BMW M5 that was ever built. It was an absolute symphony for BMW and M5 fans all around the world. It was just a glorious set of noises that tingled your hearts and inflamed your loins. Or at least it did for me.

My personal favorite, as I mentioned in that article, is the E39 M5. It’s naturally aspirated V8 just warms the cockles of my heart. I love it to pieces. However, when BMW introduced the E92 M3, the E39’s V8 found a new competitor. And the fight between the two cars was on.

While BMW isn’t especially known for its V8s, these two engines represent some of the most brilliant engineering the company has ever come up with. But which of the two sounds better? My personal opinion is the E39 M5’s V8. On the other hand, the E92 M3 wails in all the right places and sounds miles better than the new F10 M3.

But I’ll leave the decision for you all to fight about as you listen to the sultry rhythms of the two cars going head to head, or tail to tail, as the case may be.
