Autobahn Flat Out: BMW M2 Top Speed Run

The guys over at Car Throttle have slowly begun making videos to supplement their ever-increasing presence on Facebook, and in their latest, they attempt an M2 top-speed run on the German autobahn. The idea of this started out as an inside battle between Car Throttle presenters. One had gone 164 mph in a Nissan GTR, so it just seemed natural that another colleague would take up the challenge to go even faster. With far fewer ponies under the hood, the BMW M2 has an underdog presence in this battle, but we know it has the power to bring on the fight.

This M2 is not limited to 155, as most German cars are, though it’s still not easy to surpass that mark on the autobahn. Traffic always plays a factor, even though it’s much more controlled and predictable than in the ‘States. And there’s always rain, which did put a stop to one of their attempts. That said after a while, both the sky and the traffic cleared up and it was time for another go.

Did they go faster than 164 mph? As you can tell by the lead picture, it’s nearly there. I’ll let you watch the video to find out for sure though. Either way, it’s well worth the watch .
